The purpose
Public art should carry memory and create opportunity.
The initiative connects public art, youth learning, oral history and neighborhood storytelling. Residents, elders, churches, families and local historians can help identify the people, places, traditions and turning points that deserve representation.
Artists will be asked to demonstrate community participation, historical care and a realistic approach to materials, installation and maintenance.
